What to expect in 2020

Howdy!

With 2019 drawing to a close in a couple of weeks, I figured I’d write a short(ish) update post on what you can expect to see from me in the first year of the new decade.

First off, let’s discuss the projects I’ve already been working on: the Doom mapset Gomorrah and the as-of-yet-unannounced 10th The Santtu Pesonen Project album.

As far as Gomorrah is concerned, work on it has been fairly slow lately. My initial goal was to have all 6 maps for it in a more or less complete state by the end of this year, but it’s looking like that won’t be the case. That said, I intend to devote as much of my time and creative energy to Gomorrah as I can after the turn of the year. I’m hoping to have the project in a release-ready state by the summer of 2020 at the very latest, but that’s not to say that I intend to rush it. If anything, I want to deliver a product that outdoes everything I’ve made on the Doom mapping front prior. Which may or may not mean pushing the release past that point.

As for the new The Santtu Pesonen Project album, it has seen a decent bit of progress. At the moment, the album is slated to have 7 tracks, of which 4 are finished on the writing side. And the remaining 3 aren’t too far from the finish line. The production stage of the album will begin once I finish writing all tracks, and the album title will likely be announced around the same time. The album’s title and theme have already been decided upon, but I’ll keep from talking about them until the announcement.

And now for the new stuff. I’ve been beginning to feel the game development itch to a serious degree over this past week, and I even thought up a kindling of an idea for a potential game. If that idea develops to a point where I feel confident about making it a reality, you may see a proper, decent-sized game from Yours Truly. Or if not, I intend to return to game development either way, if only to familiarize myself further with my tool of choice, Fusion 2.5.

Finally, I may make a return to regular streaming in the new year. This is something I’ve been contemplating for a good while, and in all honesty, I miss streaming as often as I did back last December and January. If I do start streaming on a set schedule again, I will most likely branch out from streaming Doom wads and the occasional indie game to Doom mapping and game development streams as well.

With all that, see you in 2020!
